As a mediators Pakistan and Qatar has finalized the first round of discussion between the US and Iran with “encouraging progress” to end the war ,. Earlier the presidents of the US and Iran have signed a peace deal aiming to end the war, allowing it to immediately take effect. This agreement includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a $300bn (£224bn) plan for Iran’s “reconstruction”, and the US terminating “all types of sanctions” on Iran.
The main reason of conflict stated by the US was Iran’s nuclear program, stated by the US is still to be negotiated over an extendable 60-day period. President Donald Trump signed the deal in France during the G7 summit, defended the proposal, saying it would stave off an “economic catastrophe” warned that the US would “bomb the hell” out of Iran if no final deal emerged. Iran’s parliamentary speaker and key negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf told state media about distrust of the US remained, and Iran’s “finger is on the trigger”.
“If the enemy does not understand the language of logic, we will enter again with the language of power,” he said.
In a joint statement early on Monday, Qatar and Pakistan said that a “High Level Committee” had agreed to “a road-map towards reaching a final deal within 60 days”. Iran’s foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said the talks “delivered major progress” to end the conflict in Lebanon.
The MOU signed last week includes a commitment to reach a final deal within 60 days, as well as an end to fighting on “all fronts” – including in Lebanon – and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Both parties (US-Iran) also agreed to the creation of a “DE-confliction cell” between the US, Iran and Lebanon, facilitated by the mediating countries, to end military operations in Lebanon, their statement said.
